MADISON AVENUE
NYC
With the completion of the Beverly Hills store, we moved our attention to the new flagship store at 845 Madison Ave: the former Tom Ford location. Our scope was refining all materials and finishes as well as source all furniture, décor, and artwork items.
The materials used were noble and beautiful, including a travertine stone and a range of wood textures. We added a few more textural finishes to the space such as rough plaster inspired by the artist Giacometti. We covered one of the large shoe fixtures and carried this finish into the fitting room in the form of a large plaster dome.
Furniture and décor are a mix of new pieces, most notably the large kidney-shaped sofa from the designer Pierre Augustin Rose, aptly named “Saint Honore” that James found on a trip to Antwerp. The rest of the pieces are a mix of vintage finds from around the U.S.
In the fitting room, we returned to the Chateau Voltaire hotel for inspiration. The creative director Cecilia Bönstrøm wanted these to have a sense of luxury and sexiness. The space is darker and luxurious with velvet curtains and custom designed seating with deep fringe.
